Today was Libs and Reese’s last day of summer break. Meals were prepped. Their clothes are picked out. And their backpacks are by the door. I guess there is nothing left to do than bid this summer adieu.
Well, I hope you all had a day where you got ready!!!
Libs and Reese go back to school one week from today. BIG SIGH. This summer went by so quickly. Although there have already been some significant changes around here, I’m just not ready to give it all up yet. And I’m desperately holding on to every last beautiful moment.
Well, I hope you all have a day where it doesn’t all slip away!!!
I work up early this morning, despite being up way too late. The house was quiet and I began feeling a bit nostalgic. I always do this time of year. With summer break ending and the new school year starting in a few weeks I tend to feel similar to how I do on New Years Eve. It’s my time to reflect and I look back on summers past. With two adult children off to college I feel even more emotional than I normally do. And it all came out this morning! I spent much of my early morning looking through old pictures of my kids. I laughed, I cried and I soaked in every wonderful memory. It is like time stood still for a moment, but also flashed by in an instant. It’s all a blur but I remember almost every second of it. It sort of makes me sad yet I also delight in knowing that so much has changed but not the love we share and the memories we keep. They are our constant and they are our story. And they are what makes us … US. I am comforted in knowing that no amount of time or distance can ever change that.
Well, I hope you all have a day where you can say that time changed much but not us!!!
Today is our last day of summer break and we have been busy, busy, busy getting ready for the girls' BIG day back to school tomorrow. Even though I get a little sad about them returning to school, I have come to really enjoy this day. I like adding all the "finishing touches" to our new school year preparation. Seriously, I love this stuff!
Well, I hope you all have a fun day!!!
It's our last Sunday of summer break. Sid and George are at college. Libs and Reese return to school on Tuesday. This summer has been a DOOZEY. Emotional and exciting don't even come close to describing it. The summer of 2017 will go down as one of my all time favorites.
I never want summer to end but there is something about the routine that comes with the start of a new school year that grounds me. Summer months tend to feel (and be) more spontaneous and frivolous. But the Fall, winter and Spring months have a coziness to them. Our days are filled with the orderliness of schedules, sports and school, and by the end of August I'm usually ready for it. Fall and winter around this house are filled with magic and traditions that I have come to love. This year we even have some different things planned as well. I'm looking forward to both the familiar back-to-school regimen and the new life we will carve out for ourselves. Our family dynamics are not the same with two of my four children out of the house now. Life will undoubtedly be different, but I know it will be good for all of us.
So am I ready to say "goodbye" to these incredible days of summer? Yes. I believe I am. I will tuck their memories away in my heart. And I will be grateful for each and every moment that I got to spend with the people I love most in this world. God blessed me with another summer … and I truly can't be more thankful.
Well, I hope you all have a day where you are ready for a change of pace!!!
Today is the last day of summer … BIG sigh. Don’t get me wrong, I do love the fall. I look forward to our family’s autumn traditions. Thanksgiving is also my favorite holiday. It is definitely a cozier time of year that makes be feel like nesting … but, let’s face it, it ain’t no summer.
Well, I hope you all had a day were you didn’t feel like you were saying good bye to a dear friend!!!
Today was my H-Crew’s last day of summer vacation. We had a nice day hanging out together. I’m so thankful they still like to be with me, or at least can fake it well enough to humor me, HA! Anyway, we finished up getting ready for school tomorrow, went and got snow cones, wandered around Downtown Disney, baked cookies and went out to dinner. It wasn’t anything monumental but it gave us time to reminisce about our summer adventures and to talk about what we thought the new school year would bring. So much change is coming …
I am so grateful that we have quite a few wonderful summers under our belt, but this is certainly one summer that I am really sad to see end … BIG HUGE SIGH …
Well, I hope you all had a day were you didn’t want it to end!!!
