I know that I am not the first person to say this but with social media and all the THINGS that keep us “connected” and “informed”, at times I feel bombarded with information and connections that I just don’t need to have. I definitely don’t need to be exposed to people and information just because I may have a loose connection with them. For example, if you are my friend and your uncle’s neighbor likes cats, and I like cats, this does not mean I need to be her “friend”. Nor do I need see all of her other hobbies and interests either. I don’t know why, but typing all that out just cracked me the heck up! Maybe because it’s SO true! Anyway, it all works in reverse too. You don’t need to know or probably even want to know EVERYTHING about me either! HA! Please don’t get me wrong, I love the opportunities that social media and technology have given us. With two kids in college and family and friends all over the place I LOVE that it keeps us feeling “close”. And the information we can obtain IMMEDIATELY on the Internet can literally be peace giving and life saving! It’s all so incredibly valuable! But if I’m honest, sometimes it can be just a little too much for me.
Well, I hope you all have a day where you give yourself limited access!!!
One of my dear neighbors is doing some home improvements and there is a lot of demolition going on at their house. Um. I never realized how disturbing large chunks of concrete hitting the bottom of a metal bin would sound when you are in a deep sleep. I do now. And I’m happy to say, that once I came to my senses I realized that the world wasn’t ending. Oy.
Well, I hope you all have a day that goes CLUNK CLUNK BOOM!!!
I woke up at 4 a.m. today. I was WIDE awake but I decided to stay in bed until it was an acceptable hour to run. I’ve mentioned before that my neighborhood wakes fairly early. I am often the first one out there, but it’s usually within a few minutes of running that “Good Mornings” are exchanged with neighbors who are also out starting their day. Four in the morning, however, is pushing it. As understanding and supportive my neighbors may be of my running and training, no one wants their light sensors triggered and dogs barking that early. Unless of course it was a real threat of vampires and werewolves in the area, HA!
Well, I hope you all have a day where you are up and at it at undead hours!!!
Sixteen years ago today the U.S. faced a very ugly day. But what happened after that was something I will never forget. We came together as a country. People hung their flags. We became neighbors and family. We were proud to be Americans. There was a patriotism that emerged that I had never seen before in my life time. And it was beautiful. We didn't scatter and become concerned only for ourselves. There was a huge sense of community. We actually loved each other!
Our country is pretty divided right now. But those memories really give me hope. We have weathered some pretty nasty times together. We pulled together before, and we can do it again now. I believe in us. And I won't ever stop.
Well, I hope you all have a day where you remain loyal!!!
Because I’m early morning runner there is something that I do that I believe contributes to the success of all the other runners in my neighborhood. It’s really like a public service and something they should be incredibly thankful for … because it’s downright icky.
Well, I hope you all have a day where you don’t run through a BAZILLION spiderwebs (ew)!!!
We had a busy fun day today! I did some last minute prep around the house for our Thanksgiving Day extravaganza. Then I headed out with Libs and Ree for some shopping at the mall. We came home, made dinner and baked cookies. A LOT of cookies! Later we delivered cookie boxes to our neighbors and then FaceTimed Sidney at school. The weather started changing as the day wore on too. It officially FEELS like the holidays to me. And I love it! It is such a wonderful warm feeling. The energy it resonates is fantastic. And today was pretty darn close to perfect.
Well, I hope you all had a day that you enjoyed the heck out of!!!
I made an early dinner of fish, orzo and broccolini tonight. It was yummy, but when I smelled what my neighbors were cooking outside I got hungry all over again. I didn’t eat nearly enough today and it was wildly apparent as I sat there envying their dinner as the wonderful smell permeated throughout my house. Boy oh boy, it smelled delicious.
And then, a little while later I left my house.
To my shock and bewilderment, I found that what was the mouthwatering faint smell of a summer picnic inside my house, was suddenly an overwhelming smell of disaster outside of my house. My neighbors weren’t cooking a thing! There was a fire near by!
It’s times like these that I seriously laugh at myself.
Well, I hope you all had a day where you craved some good BBQ!!!
