I couldn’t stop laughing …

My best friend from high school, Marianne, and I lost track of each other for about two years when my family and I moved up north. Other than that, for the past almost 4 decades we have been in contact. With texting and social media we usually message each other every day and a lot of that involves making each other laugh. Today was definitely one of those days. This morning Marianne texted me something that cracked me the heck up! It’s one of those things that probably isn’t funny to anyone else, but it was certainly funny to us. It literally had me laughing all day long. And I love that. A lifetime of friendship certainly comes with a lot of perks and one of my favorites is getting to laugh with her.

Well, I hope you all had a day where you couldn’t stop laughing!!!

Don’t laugh at me …

While I was getting my miles in this morning I heard a familiar and pleasant noise but it didn’t know where it was coming from. I then saw a woman running after her dog. They stopped by a tree and her dog excitedly stood there looking up at a squirrel who had perched himself on a branch about 12 feet above them. Then I heard the noise again … and I couldn’t believe my ears! The woman and I just looked at each other. She must have seen the shock on my face because without even having to ask her, she confirmed that she was hearing the same thing that I was hearing. Now I will admit that I have been witness to a few strange animal encounters in my day, but all I could think was that THIS had to be the funniest one yet!

Well, I hope you all have a day where someone (or some creature) doesn’t laugh at you!!!

A line in a Dr. Seuss book …

This morning’s laughter started early here. Which is always a good way to begin the day! To be honest, I was so sleepy when I woke up that I’m not really sure what happened was all that funny. But it certainly got me going, so I’ll take it.

Despite waking up before my alarm clock went off this morning I just laid in my bed until the last possible minute. Libs usually gets herself up, but I always make sure she is up by a certain time. She has a range of when she likes to get up. But because I didn’t want to get up, I pushed it to the very end.

Now, I have been known to wake my kids up in silly ways, with songs, etc. but today was not one of those days. I had one job to do in my groggy state and that was to tell Libs what time it was and that she needed to get up and start getting ready for school. No fun or funniness planned just sharing some pertinent information. And that is exactly what I did … and then I immediately started laughing.

LIBBY LU, IT’S 6:42!

OK, maybe it’s not that funny to randomly find yourself rhyming when you are wide awake and it’s the middle of the day. But it sure was when I could hardly keep my eyes open! Libs just looked at me and shook her head. I’m sure deep down she thinks I waited until that exact time, just so I could say it that way. But I promise, I didn’t! I guess after 17 years of waking my kids up with laughter, being funny just seems to come naturally.

Well, I hope you all have a day where you sound like a line in a Dr. Seuss book!!!

Link weenie …

I absolutely love autocorrect. It cracks me the HECK up. My phone has come up with some DOOZIES too. And today I witnessed, quite possibly, the best autocorrection EVER. It happened when I was voice texting a shopping list and I got to the word “linguine”. Reading over my list after I finished it, I discovered the “correction” and I was honestly baffled at first. It was SO CRAZY that even I had no clue what I meant. Then the humor rushed in. Seriously, I’ll be laughing about this one for YEARS.

LIN … GUINE.

Ahahahahahahahahahaha!

Well, I hope you all have a day where you get to say LINK WEENIE out loud, question your sanity, then laugh hysterically!!!

It’s just not the same …

Yesterday my son George headed back to his university ready to start the Spring semester. Again, I don’t do any of this “letting go” thing gracefully. I am sad he left. I love my kids and every second I get to spend with them is a gift. George is such a presence in our home, especially in the morning. He wakes up in a great mood. He always greets me with a cheerful “good morning, Mom” and an “I love you”. He usually has me laughing within minutes. He has such a sweet and genuine smile. His heart, GOLD. And this morning, I am missing all of it.

Well, I hope you all don’t have a day that just isn’t the same!!!

No pajamas allowed …

Despite getting home at an ungodly hour yesterday Libs attended a sleepover at a friends' house. She really wanted to go, so I let her. My only hesitation was that she also had to be at tennis by 7:45 this morning. Her friend lives across town from us so we knew that this would challenging. Since both of us live by the mantra that SLEEP IS FOR SISSIES we decided to give it our best shot at getting her to tennis without incident. Which we did. Libs had a fun time at the sleepover and I got her to tennis EARLY. In planning this all out Libs had only one request of me … and it cracked me the heck up.

Well, I hope you all have a day where you WEAR REAL CLOTHES!!!
