Summer fun …

My foodie kids and I are are going to a watermelon festival today. I don’t even like watermelon but this just SCREAMS our names, especially this time of year. So we just have to go!

Well, I hope you all have a day filled with summer fun!!!

Do what you love …

Summer is my FAVORITE season. And today I have plans to be out in the sunshine. I want to enjoy this beautiful day with people that I adore doing things that make me smile.

Well, I hope you all have a day where you do what you love!!!

Love, American Style …

Today I was sitting in my car at a red light and I had a childhood memory pop into my head. I have no idea what triggered the memory but it certainly made me smile.

There was a show that my mom would watch when I was very little. It aired from 1969 to about 1974 so I was about 6 years old at the end of its run. It was on past my bedtime but my mom would tell me that I could stay up, if I laid down on the couch, to watch it. Which was the greatest thing EVER. But I kid you not, not one time did I ever stay awake past the opening credits. HA! I would always fall asleep! I am pretty sure that my mom planned for that but she also new how to make me happy. She was awesome that way.

Well, I hope you all have a day where you experience LOVE, AMERICAN STYLE!!!

A better wake up call …

There is nothing like getting a call at 4:17 am telling you that the flight you thought booked for your daughter (Libs, who is a minor) for 6 am TODAY was actually booked for NEXT TUESDAY. Ugh. I knew that when my computer GLITCHED OUT, when I booked the darn flight, that there had to be a problem. It happened right at the end when I was paying for the flight, and sadly, I didn’t notice it. Anyway, I was told that I had approximately 8 minutes to correct my mistake or Libs might not get on the flight! Needless to say, I went from completely asleep to a total panic and then to the fastest sprint of my life to my computer. It all worked out and her flight was rebooked. But I think I stressed out every system my body has, doing it. This is DEFINITELY not how you ever want to start your day. Trust. Me.

Well, I hope you all have a day where you get a better wake up call!!!

Go for it …

What makes us not pursue our heart’s desire? I know the answers are vast on this one. Fear. Guilt. Time. Obligations. Money. I am sure that most of us can come up with a list a mile long. I know I have! And I’d say that probably most are valid and reasonable excuses. Reasons that make our decision, to not chase our dreams, absolutely understandable. BUT, if I’ve leaned one thing in my five decades it’s this … every time I’ve been given one teeny tiny arrow pointing me in the direction of my goals, it has been a good enough reason to make them a priority. And ultimately it has all brought me a lot of joy.

Well, I hope you all have a day where you GO FOR IT!!!

Special …

Last night Sid, George and Libs (my three oldest children) took me to see Imagine Dragons at The Forum. It was incredible! I LOVE Imagine Dragons but it didn’t occur to me until last night how many songs of theirs I actually run to. HA! I guess their songs really speak to me. And they certainly got me up and dancing last night. The performance itself was absolutely phenomenal. The band really puts on quite a show visually and sends some beautiful and authentic messages throughout about acceptance, suicide, depression and mental health just to name a few. And if you thought Dan Reynolds’ voice is powerful when you hear it on your earbuds, JUST WAIT, until you hear it live. WHOA! I am no expert but I will tell you that this man can sing!

But what I loved most about last night, is who I got to share it with. My kids. They started planning this 50th birthday celebration for me a long time ago. The effort it took to pull it all off and to keep it a secret from me until my actual birthday took a village. They certainly surprised the heck out of me and made me feel loved. I know I say this a lot but I really do have the greatest kids in the world.

Well, I hope you all have a day where you feel special!!!

An open heart and a desire for adventure …

Summer always has me a little dreamy and a bit wanderlust. OK, a lot dreamy and a TON wanderlust. HA! Long sunny days and warm nights somehow spark a renewed energy into my soul. And I just can’t wait to see what each new day brings. Summer is awesome that way.

Well, I hope you all have a day where you wake up with an open heart and a desire for adventure!!!
