I haven’t been sleeping well in WEEKS. It’s just part of my “normal” sleep pattern when I am stressed or out of my routine. It passes. Eventually. Luckily in the midst of all of this sleep disturbance I can usually manage to get a night in of solid sleep. It’s not always a long night’s rest but it is deep enough to keep me going. When I wake up from sleep like this I feel almost disoriented. Like … what year is it?!?!

Today my crew and I visited a friend of mine. We met in an area where our phones were sketchy at best. Actually, it was kinda nice.

I raced into yoga late this morning. Luckily the class started late too so I didn’t miss much. I normally try to get in there early enough to set up my little area so I have room around me for my things. My bag, towel, block and whatever I’m drinking. Most classes I just have a bottle of water with me but Friday’s I tend to have coffee. Probably because it’s the day I always seem crunched for time.
Anyway, because I was late I just tossed my things to the floor, threw open my mat and jumped in doing neck stretches. I didn’t have time to get my bearings on where my stuff was in spatial relation to my uncoordinated, gangly, half-asleep body. The second we started our “flow” this became painfully obvious. I kicked my coffee over and it spilled perfectly into my silver sandal. I honestly don’t think I could have done that even if I tried and had good aim.

Gurgle. Growl. Gurgle. Growl. All. Day. Long. My stomach will just not keep quite. It’s SO LOUD too. Oh. My. Gosh. And I’m not even hungry!

Change is scary. New adventures require a lot of courage and a ton of self confidence. Or at least a strong ability to fake both, HA! I think faith is HUGE is these circumstances too. But another awesome thing to have when you are tackling something new are warrior friends. Not just regular friends. These are the friends who want what you want, just as badly as you do. They have your back. They give you advice. They are honest whether you want them to be or not. Yep, warrior friends. They help you find your brave.

It can be a BAZILLION degrees outside and it won’t bother me one bit. But make me cook in an air conditioned house on a hot day like today and I feel I’ve been banned to the depths of hell. Seriously, I make no sense … and I’m a little dramatic.

Soooo my new Fitbit tracks sleep. I’ll be honest the first week it seemed to be a little generous on the hours it tracked me sleeping. Then I saw that it had two sleep tracking settings. “Normal” and “Sensitive”. And I thought, “Ah ha!” I don’t do anything NORMAL so I figured let’s give the “sensitive” tracking a whirl. Low and behold, it picked up EXACTLY how I sleep. In my 7 hour and 12 minute “sleep schedule” I was actually only asleep for 3 hours and 33 minutes. Three hours and 39 minutes I was awake and/or restless. GOOD LORDY. Speaks volumes, doesn’t it?!?! And people wonder why I am a little nutty.
