Back to the beginning …

Yesterday I was acting like a complete nut. You could ask my family and my closest friends and they would agree. Why, you ask? Because I was running in my second offical 5K ever. Yep, 3.1 miles … and it had me a crazy person.

I have mentioned before that when I started racing my goal was always distance running. I wanted to run half marathons and marathons. Once I did a 5K and a 10K I felt confident to proceed to that level and I never looked back. I only just recently ran my second official 10K last June.

Anyway, my point in telling you all this is because I believe the 5K is quite a challenge. There is no bad moment or mile that you can recover from. It’s all over so fast, you had better make sure you are flawless! I’m not saying that distance runners have it easier, but they do have more time and miles to make up for a slower stretch on the course. Finishing a 5K has a very different running strategy FOR SURE, and one that has my respect!

Of course today I was not flawless along that 3.1 mile course, BUT … and this is a BIG BUT … I was able to manage 2nd place in my division. Go me 🙂

Well, I hope you all had a day where you happily went back to the beginning!!!
